UFC light heavyweight champion Jones was recently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after front-ending his Bentley Continental into a pole in Broome County, New York.
"Bones" Jones, 24, is regarded as the epitome of a clean-living, supreme athlete at the top of his game.
He is the youngest title holder in UFC history and the only fighter sponsored by the UFC promotion itself, so his arrest on May 19 sent shock waves round the MMA world.
Tyson's dramatic fall from grace was played out in public and he says this time is now vital in Jones's career and his life.
In a world exclusive with Paul Heyman for grounbreaking video blog The Heyman Hustle, Tyson said: "A guy like me when I was living my life, I had millions of dollars but I didn't have a support system.
"I had a bad support system so I received bad support.

"Nobody really knows Jon Jones. We just know he's a splendid fighter. We've never seen a UFC fighter like that.
"We're going to find out from this situation whether he'll continue to make us love him, as a great fighter and the way he carries himself — as a great individual, a humanitarian.
"Or is he going to let the bright lights and the dark shadows invade his life?
"Will he be one of those rising meteors that flies through the air and lights the world up but then dies down in a moment?
"I hope not because we all respect Jon and he appears to be a very nice guy, a respectable guy.
"I hope the best for him. I've been through those situations before.
"I'm pretty dark in my life, I've come from a dark place.
"I just hope the best for Jon. Take care champ."
