MANCHESTER UNITED target Shinji Kagawa is set to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.
The Japanese playmaker, 23, is out of contract at the end of next season but is refusing to sign a new deal.
And that could spark interest from the Premier League with Alex Ferguson known to be an admirer.
Dortmund director of sport Michael Zorc said: "I spoke to Shinji and his advisor last week and to date he is not willing to extend his contract.
"We have a Plan A and B and we will follow one of them.
"We won't gamble, but he has a specific career plan and he plans to play in England.
"We have to accept that, even if we don't find it good."
Dortmund admit it makes no sense to wait another 12 months and risk losing him for free.
Zorc added: "Because he now has a certain market value, there is an economic rationality which has to be followed."
