One of the world's greatest tennis players has gotten one of the world's greatest honors.

Maria Sharapova said she was told at the French Open that she has been chosen to carry the Russian flag at the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics in London.

"The Russian Olympic committee chose me to be the flag bearer at this year's Olympic opening ceremony," Sharapova said on her Facebook page. ""I am so honored, and especially excited as it will be my first Olympics in my career."
