WINKY WRIGHT has decided to call time on his career after losing to Peter Quillin.
Wright, 40, ended a three-year absence from the ring to face unbeaten Quillin at the Home Depot Center in California last night.
But the former light-middleweight world champion was on the wrong end of a unanimous decision after being floored in the fifth round.
And the American southpaw took to Twitter earlier today to announce he has no intention of boxing on if he can no longer cut it with the best around.
Wright tweeted: "It was fun while it lasted.
"I did what I set out to do and that was to be great. Part of being a good boxer is knowing when to call it quits.
"If I can't be the champion again there's no need to keep boxing.
"But I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for always supporting me and I'll still be ringside at all the fights!"
Wright retires with a record of 51 wins, six losses and one draw from a 58-fight career.
