Double jaw fracture KO's defender

GARY CAHILL has been ruled out of Euro 2012 with a double jaw fracture.
Chelsea defender Cahill was injured during England's 1-0 win over Belgium when he was pushed into Joe Hart by Dries Mertens.
It was hoped he had just suffered extensive bruising but an X-ray confirmed the news boss Roy Hodgson had been dreading.
And in a sensational snub to former Three Lions skipper Rio Ferdinand, Hodgson has called up Liverpool's Martin Kelly as Cahill's replacement.
A statement from the FA said: “Gary Cahill has been withdrawn from England’s Euro 2012 squad following the injury he suffered in the match against Belgium.
“The Chelsea defender has two fractures of his jaw, one either side.
"The England medical team have been in close contact overnight with Cahill’s club doctors who will treat him moving forward.
“Liverpool defender Martin Kelly will be called into the squad, subject to agreement from UEFA’s medical team.
"Kelly trained with the England players last week and was part of the group that travelled to Norway for the recent friendly."
A clearly baffled Ferdinand responded to the news simply by tweeting: "What reasons?????!!!"
Having already lost Gareth Barry and Frank Lampard to injury, the Cahill blow will be a bitter pill for Hodgson to swallow.
But it is not all doom and gloom for the former West Brom boss ahead of the tournament in Ukraine and Portugal as John Terry should be available despite a hamstring strain.
The FA statement added: "Terry has been scanned this morning and given the all-clear.
"He will be re-assessed on Tuesday when the team regroup."
