Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka in the first one day international of five-match series by six wickets on Thursday.
Mohammad Hafeez scored 37 runs while skipper Misbahul Haq played a sensible 30 runs innings but unfortunately run out two runs ahead of victory. Talented Umer Akmal also played a 36 runs not out inning.
The match played at Pallekele International Cricket stadium was stopped thrice due to rain. Rain reduced the 50-over match to 42-over.
Pakistan chased the total of 135 runs for the loss of four wickets in the 35th over.
Ranjana Herath, Lasith Malinga and Nuwan Kulasekara got one wicket each for Sri Lanka.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and made 135 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the rain affected match.
Pakistani pacemen Umer Gul and Mohammad Sami shared three wickets apiece while Hafeez took two wickets.
