Mexico laid a marker ahead of the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament by winning the 2012 Toulon Tournament with an impressive 3-0 final victory over Turkey.
El Tri had seen off fellow London 2012 qualifiers Belarus and Morocco in the group stage before twice coming from behind to eliminate the Netherlands in their semi-final on Wednesday.
Their form continued during the final too, with Candido Ramirez opening the scoring midway through the first half and second-half strikes from Hiram Mier and Alan Pulido sealing a maiden Toulon triumph for Mexico.
It was a deserved reward for the CONCACAF outfit, for whom Marco Fabian top scored with seven goals at the 40th edition of the youth tournament held annually in France.
Mexico have been drawn in Group B for the Olympic Football Tournament and will battle Gabon, Korea Republic and Switzerland for a place in the quarter-finals.
