In France a thrilling campaign ended with Lyon narrowly edging out FCF Juvisy in the championship race. It was their third title of the season, following on from their triumphs in the domestic cup and the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Meanwhile, Brondby IF were crowned champions with a match to spare in Denmark, Stabaek remain top of the Norwegian league and there is a gripping battle for supremacy in Japan between INAC Leonessa and NTV Beleza. FIFA.com rounds up the best of the latest action and results in women’s club football.
France: Lyon celebrate historic trebleLyon are currently the team to beat in the women’s game after ending the season with yet another title. They had a one-point lead over closest rivals Juvisy going into the last match of the campaign, which saw the top two face off for the championship in an exciting finale. Goals from Elodie Thomis(two) and Eugenie Le Sommer secured a 3-0 away win for Lyon, who retained their title and recorded the club’s first ever treble.
“It was a difficult game but it was magical. We’re really going to enjoy this title,” said Sonia Bompastorafterwards. “We managed to put them under a lot of pressure. We work hard every day and there aren’t many teams who could have had a season like we’ve just had. We deserve our titles and no-one can take them away from us.”

Norway: Stabaek still in frontThere was no change at the top of the Norwegian league after Stabaek’s commanding 3-0 win over Kolbotn IL gave them top spot for another week. Second placed LSK Kvinner kept pace with a resolute 6-0 thrashing of Valerenga to remain just a point behind. At the opposite end of the spectrum, FL Fart’s misery continued after their ninth defeat in as many games left them still pointless and rooted to the foot of the table.

Denmark: Brondby win the titleBrondby IF wrapped up their eighth Danish championship on the penultimate matchday of the season thanks to a 2-0 win over Ballerup-Skovlunde Fodbold. Malene Olsen and Anja Thorsen scored to hand the Yellow-Blues victory, giving them an unassailable lead over second-placed Fortuna Hjorring, who slipped up with a defeat to Skovbakken. On Tuesday, coach Peer Lisdorf’s side face BK Skjold in the cup final for a chance to bring home the double.

Japan: Fascinating battle at the topINAC Leonessa and NTV Beleza are currently fighting for superiority in the Japanese league. Defending champions Leonessa are still unbeaten and have been top of the pile since the first game of the season. They continued their good form on matchday eight with a 3-0 win over Urawa Reds. However, Beleza, the most successful club in the country with 12 league titles, remain hot on their heels in second spot following their 2-0 victory over Takatsuki. With only two points separating them, the title rivals go head-to-head in a mouth-watering clash in their next match.
