FOUR Euro 2012 stewards were hospitalised yesterday after Russian yobs battered them in a brutal attack.

Violence erupted after Russia’s 4-1 win against the Czech Republic when the stewards were assaulted by "around 30" fans in a walkway inside the 40,000-seater stadium.
Amateur footage shows the disgraceful scene as yobs punch and kick the volunteers in the Miejski stadium on Friday.
One steward is kicked in the head while another is left in a crumbled heap on the ground after the brutal assault.
The injured stadium staff were taken to hospital and released later that evening.
Police spokesman Pawel Petrykowski said: “We are trying to identify their attackers."

In a statement, UEFA said it was aware of the "brief and isolated incident involving a small group of around 30 fans who attacked a handful of stewards."
It added: “The situation was quickly and efficiently brought under control. The local police are aware of the incident and investigating.
“The cause of the incident is not currently known but we are studying the security reports and available images.
“UEFA remains entirely committed to the safety and security of all fans and spectators at all matches of Euro 2012.”
Meanwhile Czech Republic defender Theodor Gebre Selassie was subjected to callous monkey chants during Friday's match, according to anti-racism campaigners.
Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) said one of their observers at last night’s Group A game heard “fleeting” racist abuse of Gebre Selassie.

FARE chief executive Piara Powar said the abuse came from a “small section of the crowd” and admitted: “It may not be easy to pull together evidence for a case to be brought.”
Powar also confirmed far-right ‘Russian Empire’ flags were flown during the game.
Before the match, police arrested four drunk Russian supporters for starting a bar brawl in the city’s old town.
Warsaw mayor’s office last week gave the go-ahead for Russian fans to march in the capital on Tuesday for their national day, which coincides with Russia’s match against Poland.
The decision has fuelled fears that clashes might erupt between both countries’ infamously violent fans.
Poland and Russia have long had a fraught relationship, mired by centuries of conflict.
