Courtney Hawkins, called a "physical beast" with "excellent athleticism for his size" by one draft expert, was taken with the 13th overall pick by the Chicago White Sox in baseball's amateur draft Monday.
But why read a scouting report when you can see it come to life?
Hawkins, a 6-3, 210-pound power-hitting outfielder, put on perhaps the finest display of athleticism during a televised draft event when he did a full backflip on the set of the MLB Network's Studio 42.
Gently goaded on by sideline reporter Sam Ryan, and with the hosts sensing something was afoot Hawkins handed over his iPhone, thought about removing his White Sox jersey, then stuck a landing that would have made Ozzie Smith proud.
