I'M BACK ... Rooney celebrates his return with a ninth-minute goal
Published: 48 minutes ago
WAYNE ROONEY roared back with an early winner - but finished up as a penalty sinner.
Manchester United's England striker, out since a Christmas Day knee injury, slid home on nine minutes to clinch a home FA Cup fourth round tie with Fulham.
But he skied a late spot-kick horribly after Jordan Spence handled a cross from tireless creator Ryan Giggs.
Much-changed United struggled for long spells, though recalled midfielder Anderson conjured a superb pass for Javier Hernandez to tee up Rooney's simple goal.
Matt Taylor flashed a shot high in West Ham's lively start to the second period.
But mostly United looked to have just enough to deserve this replay victory.
