SILVA LINING ... David Silva celebrates after netting his second goal of the afternoon
Published: 13 minutes ago
DAVID SILVA was at the double as Manchester City picked up their ninth home win of the season.
With Mario Balotelli and Sergio Aguero looking on from the bench, Silva broke the deadlock after just two minutes.
The Spaniard was on hand to guide the ball into the net when Edin Dzeko, playing up front with Carlos Tevez, saw his shot parried by Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer.
And he was on target again in the 69th minute after Tevez played him in on goal.
Silva found himself one-on-one with Schwarzer but kept his cool to flick the ball into the far corner.
The World Cup winner was clearly in the mood for goals and should have completed his hat-trick just moments later.
But this time a scuffed effort failed to find the net as his ice-cool finishing deserted him.
Balotelli, who is all packed up and ready to join AC Milan in a £24million deal, did not need to be summoned from the bench — largely because Martin Jol's Cottagers rarely threatened.
And the Italian is unlikely to be seen in a City shirt again after giving notice on his rented house in Cheshire.
But with Silva, Dzeko, Tevez and Aguero at his disposal, boss Roberto Mancini is unlikely to miss his controversial compatriot.
