MERRY DANCE ... Daniel Sturridge
Published: 24 minutes ago
DANIEL STURRIDGE scored his third goal in three matches as Liverpool thrashed Norwich at Anfield.
The striker — signed for £12m from Chelsea — was rewarded with his first start after strikes against Mansfield and Manchester United.
And he continued his red-hot form by netting the third after Jordan Henderson and Luis Suarez eased the Reds in front.
Skipper Steven Gerrard then added a fourth with a rasping, trademark 30-yard drive before a Ryan Bennett own goal wrapped up the empathic scoreline.
Norwich rarely troubled Brad Jones' goal despite matching their opponents for long periods of the first half.
With new Scotland boss Gordon Strachan watching on, the Canaries' only threat came from the set pieces of winger Robert Snodgrass.
And the result could have had a much different look to it had Ryan Bennett nodded in the Scot's early free-kick.
However, with Suarez and Sturridge showing plenty of promise as a partnership up front, Liverpool began to dominate.
And when Henderson thundered in a brilliant, long-range opener, Norwich began to fall apart.
Sturridge's sublime step-over allowed Suarez to run clear and slot past Mark Bunn for the second.
The England international tapped-in after the break to make sure before Gerrard's arrowed drive on 66 minutes.
Raheem Sterling came off the bench and made an immediate impact as he burst through and forced Ryan Bennett to turn the ball into his own net.
