THE Euro 2012 clash between France and Ukraine was suspended after a huge thunderstorm broke out in Donetsk.
The Group D encounter kicked off in heavy rain but referee Bjorn Kuipers hauled the players off in the fifth minute with fork lightning overhead.
It was the first time a game had been temporarily suspended in a major tournament since Germany versus Poland in the 1974 World Cup and the first time a game had ever been suspended in the European Championship.
The match resumed just after 6pm.
