Solomon Islands have started the third and final stage of Oceania 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ qualifying in winning fashion by claiming a 2-0 victory over Tahiti in Honiara.
Goal in each half from Henry Fa’Arodo and Himson Teleda delighted the large Lawson Tama faithful.
Tahiti, the newly-crowned Oceania champions and 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup participants, suffered a major blow just prior to half-time with Nicolas Vallar dismissed after bringing down Fa’Arodo who was through on goal.
The Bonitos skipper had already given his side the lead on 17 minutes after converting a Benjamin Totori cross from the right.
Teleda then doubled the lead just before the hour mark after exchanging passes with Fa'arodo.
