Nkemdiche's coach at Grayson, Mickey Conn, is a former college roommate of Clemson coach Dabo Sweeney, when the two played for Alabama. Two of Nkemdiche's teammates, defensive back David Kamara and tailback Wayne Gallman, had already committed to Clemson.
Nkemdiche, who is 6-5 and 270 yet mobile enough to play running back for Grayson, was named a second-team All-USA player last season as a junior, recording 78 tackles with 18 sacks.
Just last month, Nkemdiche had planned to announce a college choice, but then changed his mind, saying he would likely wait until after the fall to make his decision.
The other colleges he considered were Georgia, LSU, Mississippi and Alabama.
Georgia recently hired Daryl Jones, who was an assistant at Grayson when Nkemdiche was a freshman. Also, Nkemdiche's brother, Denzel, plays defensive back at Mississippi.
