New Zealand are the latest team to qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016 after overpowering Papua New Guinea 8-0 in the Oceania final.
The Young Football Ferns took a while to outmuscle their opponents, before finally cruising to victory in the tournament finale in Rarotonga, Cook Islands.
PNG opened strongly and it wasn’t until midway through the first half that New Zealand claimed two goals in quick succession through Jacqui Hand and Hannah Blake.
The Kiwis, however, ran riot after the interval and there were further goals for Blake and Hand who both completed hat-tricks, while Samantha Tawharu and Michaela Foster also netted.
Jordan 2016 will be New Zealand’s fifth successive appearance in the tournament.
