After Japan and Korea DPR secured their spots at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Papua New Guinea 2016, Korea Republic joined the duo as the third and final Asian side to reach next year's competition after beating China PR 4-0 in the match for third place at the AFC U-19 Women's Championship.
The Chinese backline resisted a persistent Korean Republic attacking threats throughout the first half. However, the flood gates opened after the break and Naming Yeti started the scoring from close range int he 50th minute, and Son Hwa Yeon's brace came shortly after to put the game out of reach. Jang Chang then made it 4-0, her third goal of the tournament.
In the final of the Women's Championship, Japan and Korea DPR battled to a scoreless draw and after 120 minutes the Nadeshiko took home the title 4-2 on penalties. Japan goalkeeper Chika Hira stole the spotlight, making several world class saves to secure their fourth continental title at the age level.
