The No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 draft, Irving averaged 18.5 points, 5.4 assists and 3.7 rebounds.
Cleveland finished 21-45, third-worst in the Eastern Conference as Irving missed 15 games with a shoulder injury.
But since losing LeBron James to the Miami Heat via free agency two seasons ago, the future is looking brighter for the Cavaliers because of the 6-3 point guard.
"He plays with such poise and veteran-ism, you can't tell he's a rookie," Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce told USA TODAY Sports earlier this season.
Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge was impressed, too.
"He has a knack with the ball," Aldridge told USA TODAY Sports. "He finishes well over bigs."
