JOSE MOURINHO is chasing Zlatan Ibrahimovic — and all the stats suggest their reunion would be a match made in heaven.
Manchester United’s new boss arrives at Old Trafford with a phenomenal track record in every league he’s ever managed in.
And his bread and butter? The Premier League.
The Special One has the highest win percentage of any manager in the Prem era at 66% — that’s more than Sir Alex Ferguson who trails on 65% and Carlo Ancelotti on 63%.
Out of the 212 games he’s managed in England’s top flight, he’s won 140 of them and tasted defeat just 28 times.
It’s the same story pretty much everywhere for Jose, who has hoarded 22 trophies in his glittering managerial career.
That includes two Champions Leagues, three Premier League titles, two Serie A crowns, one La Liga and two Primeira Ligas.
It’s an oustanding résumé and one that Mourinho is rightly extremely proud of.
He received criticism at Chelsea for failing to bring through youth players and left with accusations of dressing room mutiny.
But he won the title in 2004-05 with the youngest group of players to ever lift the Premier League trophy — with an average age of just 25 years 250 days.
Louis van Gaal’s disastrous tenure at Old Trafford did have a somewhat positive end with his blooding of young players such as Marcus Rashford and Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
And should Ibrahimovic join up with the Red Devils over the summer and pick up where the pair left of at Inter, the omens look good for United.
The charismatic Swede, 34, has won NINE titles in the last 10 seasons — and he only missed out on the clean sweep when AC Milan finished second to invincibles Juventus in 2011-12.
There is a lot of bluster and false charm surrounding Ibra, but the cold hard facts are that the lanky frontman is a winner — and even in his mid-30s guarantees goals.
In 370 games spread around Europe’s top leagues, he’s netted 251 times and chipped in with 96 assists.
Last season he outscored Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski, finding the net 50 times in just 51 games.
He was only bettered by the prolific Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo.
That’s some record.
It’s difficult to directly compare the Premier League with Ligue 1, which PSG won in early March and finished a ridiculous 31 points clear.
