A campaign has been launched to try to get a real strip for child pictured wearing blue and white plastic bag with 'Messi 10' written on the back
It is an image familiar across the world: children wearing replica football shirts bearing the name of their heroes.
But for some, owning such a shirt is almost as much of a dream as being able to emulate their idols on the pitch.
The picture of the boy, which was first spotted by fans in Turkey, has spread on social media around the world, prompting an outpouring of support for the youngster.
A campaign on Twitter has now been launched to try to track down the unidentified boy and get him a real Argentina national team shirt.
Fanatik, Turkish sports website, reported: “A young boy in Iraq made a Lionel Messi shirt from a plastic bag.”
Spanish-language football blog Juez Central then tweeted: “Tremendous image. A child in Iraq manages to play in his idol’s T-shirt. The Beautiful Game.”
One popular fan-run Twitter account for the Argentina star Lionel Messi has claimed to be in contact with representatives of the Barcelona captain.
Messi10stats, which has almost 700,000 followers, tweeted: "They want to know who this kid is so that Leo can arrange something for him."

There has so far been no acknowledgment from the star about the child. However, it wouldn't be the first time Messi has done something charitable for children.
