JOHNNY Depp tried to smother Amber Heard with a pillow after he flew into a drunken rage, her friend has sensationally claimed.
The actress texted her pal during the alleged attack at the couples plush LA home, where she claims she discovered Amber battered and bruised.
She told the New York Post's Page Six: “I got to her apartment to find her with a cut and bruised lip, a swollen eye and a chunk of hair missing from the top of her head.
“This incident really stuck with me because she confided in me that day that she feared for her life after an intoxicated Johnny tried to suffocate her with a pillow.”
The pal went on to claim that it wasn't the first time Johnny had become violent after boozing.
She added: “I have personally witnessed the aftermath of Johnny Depp’s violent and abusive behaviour towards her on many occasions."
The claims come hot on the heels of allegations the 52-year-old star punched a wall so hard he required surgery.
Johnny is said to have turned violent while filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in Australia last year.

He was forced to take a month of filming after he smashed his fist into a wall in the apartment the couple were sharing to return to the US for surgery.
The actor had a pin put in one of his fingers and he was photographed at the time boarding a plane in Brisbane sporting a duct taped bandage on his hand.
The 30-year-old Texan actress filed for divorce last month claiming she 'lived in fear' of her superstar husband after he had become abusive.
She left a court in LA sporting a bruised cheek last Friday as she was granted a restraining order against Johnny.
The power couple met on the set of the Rum Diary in 2009 while both were in relationships.
In 2012 Johnny left his long-term partner Vanessa Paradis and shortly after struck up a romance with the openly bisexual actress.
The couple have kept quiet about their marital torment up until Amber started proceedings to end their 15 month union.
In court documents she claims: “During the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me."
She claims Johnny hurled an iPhone at her face and yanked her hair after he arrived at their home "inebriated and high."
Accusing her husband of being a paranoid alcoholic Amber said in court papers that she lives “in fear that Johnny will return to [our house] unannounced to terrorize me, physically and emotionally.”
A judge granted her a temporary restraining order.
Meanwhile, Johnny’s legal team has vehemently denied the court allegations, accusing Amber of coming forward out of pure financial interest.
His divorce lawyer Laura Wasser said in a statement. “Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse.
“Her current application for a temporary restraining order, along with her financial requests, appears to be in response to the negative media attention she received earlier this week after filing for divorce.
“Yet Johnny cannot protect himself or Amber from media scrutiny, and Amber’s anger certainly cannot drive this dissolution proceeding.”
Ambers legal team fought back yesterday issuing a statement to the LAPD saying: “Johnny’s team has forced Amber to give a statement to the LAPD to set the record straight as to the true facts, as she cannot continue to leave herself open to the vicious, false and malicious allegations that have infected the media.
“Amber has suffered through years of physical and psychological abuse at the hands of Johnny."
The statement concludes saying: “Hopefully, Johnny will get the help that he so desperately needs.”
